Father Brown

Father Brown is a detective series loosely based on the Father Brown short stories by G. K. Chesterton, starring Mark Williams as the crime-solving Roman Catholic priest. Broadcast began on BBC One on 14 January 2013. The latest ninth series premiered on BBC One on 3 January 2022. Apart from soap operas, it is the second-longest-running daytime drama series broadcast on BBC Television.

The Beast of Wedlock

Father Brown investigates a missing person, a murder and a mythical wild cat. 

Father Brown battles his emotions as he has his closest friend arrested for murder.

Series 9. Episode 3

The Requiem for the Dead

Father Brown must delve into the past and open up old wounds when a child killer is found murdered.

Mrs McCarthy distracts Inspector Mallory so Sergeant Goodfellow can smuggle in Father Brown and Sid Carter to search police records for further clues in the Hannigan case.

An enraged John Banks vents his fury at Ned Hannigan for not revealing the whereabouts of his murdered daughter’s body. Inspector Mallory and Sergeant Goodfellow race to the scene to retore law and order but manage to upset Mrs McCarthy in the process.

Series 9. Episode 10

The Red Death

Lady Felicia and her husband Monty host a lavish masked ball counting down to 1954. However, their plans are ruined when the Minster of Defence is murdered by a masked figure. With the estate locked down and a killer in the midst.

Sir Charles feels the effects of his drugged whiskey and retires to his room only to receive another unwelcome surprise.

As a cornered Dr Elliot Muthomi holds Lord Montague hostage at knifepoint in the ballroom, Ruth Moulton confesses to Father Brown why she murdered Sir Charles Hakeworth.

Lady Felicia and Monty are happily reunited as are the entire gang on New Years Eve and they all countdown the year's end together.
