Amber Mason was on Christmas holiday of a lifetime in Thailand with her mother and stepfather when they were caught up in the 2004 Tsunami disaster which killed nearly a quarter of a million people.

Over the holiday, Amber had formed a close friendship with four-year-old Ning Nong the elephant. Spending every spare moment together. Enjoying their regular early morning walk on the beach that fateful morning, Amber, Ning Nong and the elephant’s Mahout noticed the sea suddenly disappear as if it were an extreme low tide. The classic sign of an approaching tsunami.
